Inverhuron Provincial Park – June 2014

This was our beautiful site at Inverhuron Provincial Park. We visited here in June 2014 for our first longer holiday of the year. Our site was level and very private. It was a little smaller than we usually get, but it was nice. Inverhuron is located on the shores of beautiful Lake Huron. It was about a four hour drive from home for us. We were set up in no time and having our first look at Lake Huron this year. Here are some photos:

Inverhuron has a beautiful sandy beach along with some very rocky beaches. The scenery is beautiful at this park. Our first day was overcast and cool. The next day was about the same, but we could see clear sky in the distance. We decided to drive to the town of Southampton and the lighthouse where the Saugeen River empties into the lake.

We enjoyed some very amazing skies while at this park. There was a cold front moving out the first morning at the park and some very beautiful sunsets over Lake Huron.

Inverhuron has one multi-use trail that runs throughout the park. We mountain biked on it a couple of times. Parts of it were closed when we visited due to the addition of another campground at the park! So, it wasn’t a very long trail but there were many point along the trail with a beautiful look Lake Huron.

We found a nice little golf course – Pipers Glen – in Port Elgin and golfed nine holes. It wasn’t a bad little course. The weather was great. It was an awesome time out!

The boat launch at Inverhuron is pretty nice. It’s geared more towards motorized craft, but we used it to launch our kayaks. We tried kayak fishing in Lake Huron, but didn’t catch anything. Our fish finders were displaying over 25 feet and we could still see boulders on the bottom. The water was so clear and so cold! It was a nice paddle to end the day!

Our stay at Inverhuron was an enjoyable one. The park is very quiet, clean and well patrolled. There are both sand and stone beaches to swim at and the water appears to be very clean. I had no complaints about our site and in looking at other sites, they all looked very nice. There are pull-thrus at Inverhuron and they are also very nice. I was surprised at how private they were considering they were pull thrus. Although this was a nice park, I think there are other parks I’d like to visit first before returning here.

The last day we were at the park a large storm system blew through. The skies were amazing! So much thunder and lightning. Here are a few random photos of the storm and the park.

I wish I could post more photos on this blog, but there are size restrictions of course, so here is a link to more photos on my Picasa site:
