SIBBALD POINT PROVINCIAL PARK – JUNE 2010
Our second trip in June took us to Sibbald Point Provincial Park on the southern shores of Lake Simcoe. Our site was a very large, private pull thru. We were one of three campers on this loop, so it was very quiet. The weather was not so great but we managed to dodge the rain both days and get some kayaking time in. We really didn’t use any park facilities as our unit is self contained but the park store carried most items needed and lots of souvenirs. The park staff were friendly and the park itself very clean. Lake Simcoe was simply beautiful. The water was so clear and clean. I pulled my kayak up onshore and swam to cool off. Nice. Dave caught a couple nice perch and a nice bass over the course of the weekend. We paddled all the way to Black River then headed back as another band of heavy rain was moving in. We didn’t quite make it back before getting poured upon. After drying off back at camp, the weather cleared and we went for a walk around the campground. Here are some kayaking photos:
Saturday afternoon I had a little accident when I forgot that my kayak was tied on the back of our truck – not left back at camp and I backed into a hedge. I broke my rudder off which resulted in a detour on the way home to the place where I bought it – Grand Experiences. Happy news, within a couple days, Dave had it fixed up good as new. Here are some other random photos from the park:
We enjoyed our stay at Sibbald and are looking forward to coming back in 2011 for more kayaking.
