Nith River Park

I booked a short stay at Nith River Park on our way to Point Farms Provincial Park on Lake Huron. I wish we had more time at Nith River. We checked in on Thursday evening and were met by friendly campground hosts and directed to our site. I’d booked the campsite online and it did look a fair bit different than it actually was. There was no way we were getting our 32 foot Spree on this site. We called back to the office and asked if we could take the site beside it which was empty. They agreed and we ended up there instead. Fortunately there were no other campers in the little area, so there were other sites available.

Our site was located at the bottom of a hill in a quiet park of the park. It backed onto the fishing pond which was nice. We got our Spree into #14 but it was still a tight fit. We were backed up to a tree at the back of the site and our hitch was at the edge of the road. We’d never get our new fifth wheel into this site! Here are some photos:

The park looked well cared for and very nice. The playground and pool would be wonderful for kids. The washrooms were clean and there was also a large rec hall at the park. There seemed to be plenty to do to keep kids amused like a basketball court and volleyball nets. We never found the Nith River which is supposed to be accessible from the park, but we never had a decent amount of time to look. Dave did take some time to fish in the pond and caught a few bass. Again, we didn’t have much time to enjoy fishing, but maybe in the future.  I would return here for sure, but we’d need a bigger serviced campsite to accommodate our fiver. Here are some photos of the park:

Nith River has three hookup sites with both 50amp and 30amp The roads are paved and the park well maintained. The campground area we were in was nice, but suited to smaller trailers. The hosts are friendly and provide great service. We hope to return to this park again and maybe kayak the Nith River if water levels are suitable. We enjoyed our stay here and wish it had of been a little longer.  Here is a link to the parks website:
