Well, we’re finally back to camping! After six weeks of having our fifth wheel at the dealers, we got it back fixed up and ready to go! New Year’s Eve we towed it to Valens Conservation Area for the beginning of our winter season of camping. The trailer remains on our campsite until mid-April.
It was a great weekend spent with fellow camping friends, some of which are also doing the Winter Warriors program. Here are some photos of New Year’s Eve spent around the campfire!
Our weekend went pretty quick! I was still fighting a cold and didn’t feel too well, so New Year’s Day we just relaxed inside and watched movies. A day relaxing really helped. I felt better by Saturday, so we started getting camp ready.
Home is only just over an hour from the park, so we headed back to pick up some supplies we couldn’t fit in the back of the truck on the drive up. It sure is different towing a fifth wheel compared to a travel trailer. Not much room for cargo in the bed of the truck!
We were going to try using our fresh water system, which on the KZ Durango forum has been used down to 15F, but it was just too much work considering how we felt.
So here’s what our campsite looks like all set up! Note the set up for our woodpile!
We started off our winter season at a different campsite from last year. It’s really nice! Not as roomy, but surrounded by woods and private! My bird feeders are hung in hopes of visits from cardinals, bluejays and woodpeckers again this year!
New also this season is our trailer. We traded our KZ Spree in for a KZ Durango fifth wheel. The thing I love and will absolutely enjoy with this new fifth wheel is all the windows! There is nothing like being warm inside looking out the windows at the falling snow!
Well, we are fortunate that we will be able to camp three weekends in January. Our first is done and in a couple weeks, we’ll be up there with the campfire burning!
HAPPY CAMPING!
